Everyone is always asking the question… “What’s the best vertical jump training program?” There are so many vertical jump training programs out there, but I have found THREE vertical jump training programs that stand out against most. I have tried each and every one of these vertical jump training programs so let’s just say, I have experience when it comes down to vertical jump training programs. I tried them all so you don’t have to.
Believe it or not, every athlete, especially professional basketball players, has strategic training plans specifically dedicated and designed to increase and maintain vertical and cardio. They do this because the game they play DEMANDS it.
If you aren’t able to jump when it’s essential in many sports, including basketball, it will make it that much harder to find success. If you truly want to be elite and be able to finish with the best, defend, and even rebound, you are in the right place, because this is where WINNERS go to get up there to be the best of the best.
Here is a rundown of some of the best vertical jumps out there in 2024 and why I have highlighted one of them specifically as the greatest and most recommended. I am not here to waste your time.
#1) Vert Shock
This was honestly a VERY EASY pick for me.
After trying multiple vertical jump programs and doing hours of research, I have decided to name Vert Shock THE BEST vertical jump program. Vert Shock is THE BEST-SELLING vertical jump training program out there.
My number one pick goes to Vert Shock, which in my opinion, is the best overall vertical jump program, created by the famous Adam Folker.
This program has it all, and Vert Shock truly is the best and most efficient vertical jump training program that I have seen or even trained with.
Vert Shock includes a full training package that teaches you how to systematically increase your vertical leap. This training package guides you every step of the way. Vert Shock is a 3-step program that is specifically designed to train athletes to increase their vertical jump
The greatest thing about Vert Shock is how it is the QUICKEST vertical jump program currently out there, and how it does not require any weights at all to train with it. YOU DO NOT REQUIRE ANY SORT OF WEIGHTS/WORKOUT EQUIPMENT FOR THE PROGRAM.
This is the best program to train with. What else are you going to be doing sitting at home? You can use this program and train your vertical jump.
It is actually crazy how simplistic and easy-to-use this program is. Vert Shock raises itself to a whole new level compared to other vertical jump programs currently out there.
This program has been proven successful by a lot of people, and I have also seen great results with my friend and I. This program really lives up to what it promises.
Vert Shock is the best-selling jump training program in the world. Vert Shock only asks for 8 weeks of your time, to help you gain between 9-15 inches to your vertical jump, and this is their GUARANTEE.
There are other training programs out there that are worth your time, but in my opinion, Vert Shock does a good job of balancing everything you need.
Vert Shock was created by professional basketball player, Adam Folker. Adam Folker is a professional basketball player and he used to play NCAA Division I basketball at the University of California Irvine. He later went on to play professional basketball. Adam Folker is very successful and he has gone on to travel the world to play basketball against some of the greatest players in the sport.
Vert Shock launched a few years back, and even today, it is still one of the most successful vertical jump training programs out there.
The whole idea behind Vert Shock comes from a secret Russian training regiment which is designed to improve your strength and explosiveness as you also work to become more agile. Vert Shock targets a very specific workout that is high-intensity with great impact. This workout targets the nerves in your legs.
This program helps you convert your slow-twitch muscle fibers to fast-twitch muscle fibers. The idea is that the faster your muscles are, the more force you will be able to use, which ultimately leads you to the results that you are looking for → a high vertical jump.
The type of muscle fiber that you are trying to target is your fast-twitch muscle fibers. Slow-twitch muscle fibers are designed to help you with running for a long period of time as it is designed to help enable more endurance. Fast-twitch muscle fibers do fatigue faster, BUT, they are designed to help you achieve POWERFUL bursts of movement. Although, fast-twitch muscle fibers do fatigue faster.
Vert Shock does use some similar principles from other vertical jump programs but for the most part, it is different, and it is completely designed to help you increase your vertical effectively. Vert Shock focuses entirely on plyometrics, and it is designed to get the most out of it effectively.
Vert Shock comes in three separate phases, which follow an 8-week workout program.
The three phases:
- The PRE-SHOCK phase
- The SHOCK phase
- The POST-SHOCK phase
I just want you to know that Vert Shock is no magic pill. Don’t expect to get results by doing nothing. Vert Shock isn’t a program that you can take lightly. If you truly want to be a dunker, then expect to put in the work.
After successfully completing Vert Shock, my friend was able to increase his vertical by a whopping 12 inches.
BEFORE Vert Shock: 21 inches
AFTER Vert Shock: 33 inches
Even though I have already tried previous vertical jump programs, and I already have a high vertical, I decided to try this program alongside my friend and I actually gained 5 inches to my jump which is a lot for someone who already has a high vertical. This program works best for those who are new to vertical jump training.
So to answer the question, Does Vert Shock Work?
The answer to that question would most certainly be YES! Vert Shock Works, and importantly, IT WORKS FAST!
Vert Shock is also easily accessible. Once you purchase the product, everything is EASY to find. Once you purchase Vert Shock, you actually get access to the member’s area where you can log in with any device. The member’s area also includes other tools that give added bonuses to the experience. You even get access to their VIP forums which only Vert Shock members can access. There you can interact with other athletes where you can ask questions and also see progression from others.
Now this is all cool and all, but the most important thing comes from the Vert Shock workouts.
These workouts ARE NOT EASY.
For each week you will approximately be working out about 4-6 days a week, and the intensity remains high. You will also get a chance to have a rest day which is very crucial.
Although the work is hard, you should expect that because nothing in life is easy. The greatest thing about Vert Shock is how quickly all that hard work actually pays off. You will notice effective results SUPER FAST.
It’s crazy how my friend noticed great results during the PRE-SHOCK phase which is just designed to prepare you for the MAIN phase of the program.
The reason why you should trust Vert Shock is because they are behind the world’s top dunker.
His name is Justin ‘Jus Fly’ Darlington.
You may have heard of him from Slam Magazine or even Bleacher Report. He was even on TNT’s hit show called The Dunk King.
Vert Shock was designed with the help of Justin Darlington, and the two both spent years developing different training methods designed to help you improve your dunking skills.
You can already tell how much dunking has helped Darlington during his life, and with the help of Vert Shock, he ended up winning multiple awards, including the Nike+ World Dunk Contest.
Although Vert Shock may seem short compared to other programs, it truly isn’t and honestly having a short program is actually good in this case. A lot of people would prefer a shorter training program and after doing a previous vertical jump program before Vert Shock, it is really great to go from a 12-14 week training program to just an 8-week one. Although this program is short, Vert Shock is VERY EFFECTIVE, and that is why I recommend Vert Shock over any vertical jump program. It is also worth mentioning that there is a 60-day money-back guarantee policy. Although I doubt you would need it, it is nice to have some sort of to get your money back within 60 days of purchase, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. Vert Shock even comes with many bonuses which help make the program better.
The greatest thing about Vert Shock is how quickly you are expected to have successful results. Most programs such as The Jump Manual often take around 3+ months to complete, and most of the time they only give you an average increase of 10 inches to your vertical jump.
However, Vert Shock is a program that only lasts 8 weeks, which is approximately 2 months of your time. It is most definitely one of the most successful and fastest vertical jump training programs currently out there on the market.
Hundreds of thousands of copies have been sold worldwide, and this alone proves why Vert Shock is so successful because people trust it.
But that doesn’t mean that Vert Shock doesn’t have its flaws, there may be a better vertical jump program out there that is better for some people over others.
And that is exactly where the next program comes in…
#2) The Jump Manual
*NOTE THIS PROGRAM IS RECEIVING MINIMAL SUPPORT FROM THE CREATOR AS OF TODAY*
The Jump Manual is my #2 pick for the second-best vertical jump program out there.
The Jump Manual was probably the FIRST vertical jump program that actually gave me a lot of success. I actually rated this the best vertical jump training program out there until I tried Vert Shock.
Now compared to Vert Shock, The Jump Manual is actually much older compared to Vert Shock, but what’s so shocking is how it’s so effective as of today after all this time. Even though this program is so old, it is still very much relevant and one of the most effective training programs currently out there.
I found out about The Jump Manual when I was in high school and honestly, I have to say that I couldn’t have picked a better time to start a vertical jump training program.
The Jump Manual is the first program that actually gave me a significant increase in my vertical and got it to a point where it was BEYOND 30 inches. Before The Jump Manual, I had a vertical below 25 inches, and after using The Jump Manual, I was able to increase my vertical by 10-12 inches to a crazy 33 INCHES!
The Jump Manual gave me my first experience of dunking a basketball, and any program after that was just an add-on to what The Jump Manual gave me. I honestly feel like I could have gotten even more from The Jump Manual, but I was given a recommendation to try Vert Shock which is again probably the best vertical jump program out there, but that doesn’t mean The Jump Manual isn’t even close. The Jump Manual is what made it a hard decision to pick between #1 and #2, #3 was probably the easiest to choose.
Trust me The Jump Manual was VERY HARD, and I had to give it everything I had.
JUST KNOW, it pays off in the end.
The Jump Manual is a professional vertical leap training program that is based on science. The Jump Manual follows a 14-day workout cycle. This workout is a 14-day split.
The Jump Manual includes a full training package that teaches you how to systematically increase your vertical leap. This training package guides you every step of the way.
According to the creator of The Jump Manual, this program has been proven time and time again to work if you implement it properly. They are so confident that if you aren’t satisfied with your results within 60 days, they will offer full support for you individually until you are, or they also give you the option to request a full refund. They guarantee that by using their program, you should add at least 10-20 inches to your vertical if you implement the program to its fullest.
This program has tried and tested many scientific methods. The Jump Manual is a culmination of 15+ years of scientific research, and Jacob Hiller (the creator of jump manual) took that research and turned it into the most effective exercises, training sequences and techniques to increase your vertical jump. Thousands of athletes have used this program to consistently increase their vertical leap. They claim that if you are able to follow the instructions to its fullest, you are surely guaranteed to succeed in increasing your vertical leap. They want you to know that this program requires hard work, focus, and discipline. This isn’t some magic pill that will give you results right away. As long as you keep on working, this program has been proven to get the most out of the work that you put in.
Jacob Hiller is the creator of The Jump Manual and he is also an athletic performance coach. He also has experience working with professional basketball coaching staff, and olympic level athletes. Jacob Hiller wasn’t born with this athletic ability, he used to be just like us. In High School he measured at approximately 19” vertical leap and he barely made the team in his school. Today, he can jump over 40” – doubling his vertical leap from high school – and he is one of the most sought out athletic vertical jump specialists.
I really enjoy learning about how and why these programs work.
The whole idea behind Vert Shock comes from a secret Russian training regiment which is designed to improve your strength and explosiveness as you also work to become more agile. Vert Shock targets a very specific workout that is high-intensity with great impact. This workout targets the nerves in your legs. Vert Shock is based on high-intensity advanced plyometrics that focuses on the type-II fibers in our body, which is ultimately your fast-twitch muscle fibers. Ultimately Vert Shock helps you convert your slow-twitch muscle fibers to fast-twitch muscle fibers.
The Jump Manual follows The 9 Fundamentals of Vertical Jump Training. Throughout his research, Jacob Hiller discovered nine different variables that affect your vertical leap. Most programs that are similar to The Jump Manual focus on just a FEW of the variables. You should know that The Jump Manual uses all nine variables and they specifically target all of the variables. This is very big because it is truly the only program in this category that specifically targets all nine, and that is why The Jump Manual is so effective.
Jacob Hiller ensures that as you improve in each variable for your vertical jump, it will ultimately have a positive effect on all the other ones as well. He also explains how if one of the variables isn’t developed enough, it will harm your ability to improve your vertical, and it will be very limited.
The creator of The Jump Manual says that “The techniques inside The Jump Manual are all based on scientifically proven research. Nothing is theory. Everything has been tested and proven.”
This is backed up by the three key findings found in The Jump Manual.
Essentially, both Vert Shock and The Jump Manual target the type-II fibers in your body. This is very good because that means that both of these vertical jump training programs know exactly what they are doing, and it shows that they have really done their research.
Not only does The Jump Manual help you increase your vertical leap, but it also helps you become a better basketball player. It turns you from a role player into an all-star. The Jump Manual makes you feel whole. Personally, it helped me become a better person and much more healthier than I was before I tried The Jump Manual. If you are someone who is serious and has a passion for the sport of basketball, I would say that this is ONE of the best vertical jump training programs to choose from.
Vert Shock vs The Jump Manual
So now I have talked about both Vert Shock and The Jump Manual, which are both GREAT vertical jump training programs, but now are you wondering which one to choose, and which is the best for you?
Which program should I choose between Vert Shock and The Jump Manual?
Currently, there are a few factors that can help you decide between the two.
Go with Vert Shock:
If you are young, under the age of 30, and have no history of prior leg/back injuries, then I most certainly recommend Vert Shock. Vert Shock is designed for those who are young and able to handle those intense workouts. If you are someone with an injury history, you should try and avoid Vert Shock, because there is a chance you may aggravate it. For those who are older, I wouldn’t recommend Vert Shock because this is an intense workout program that is provided for those who want to see quick results. If you are someone who has no weights at home or has no access to the gym, then I would recommend Vert Shock, because it is designed for no gym equipment requirement. If you are someone who wants to see quick results, Vert Shock is the program for you as it is one of the quickest vertical jump training programs out. I would also recommend it, especially in 2024 as it is still currently receiving full support from the creator whereas the other vertical jump training programs are receiving minimal support.
Go with The Jump Manual:
If you are someone who is 30+ years old or has a history of injuries, I would certainly look to go with The Jump Manual because it is relatively safer and it is ultimately designed for all ages. The Jump Manual is very serious when it comes to your health. They truly care for your body and they go into depth about proper form and stability. They want to make sure that your body is prepared for the workout routine. If you are someone who has access to weights or the gym, I would recommend using The Jump Manual. Although I have said that there being a no weight requirement is actually a good thing, it is also a bad thing. To get the most out of the program, and in order to see MAXIMUM results, it is definitely a lot more effective to use weights. I actually had weights and after using both programs, I saw better results after using weights and honestly it was much easier, and I know a lot of people prefer it. So if you are someone who is willing to take more time and more effort, there is definitely a very high chance that you see better results after using The Jump Manual than Vert Shock. I also believe that The Jump Manual is a more well-rounded program. The Jump Manual covers everything and Hiller goes into depth about how and why the program works. Not only does this program help you increase your jump, but it also helps you in other ways, such as losing weight and becoming more fit in general. The Jump Manual even includes an EXTRA module that goes over exercises you could do without weights, and that’s something Vert Shock doesn’t have. Vert Shock includes exercises that don’t require any weights but there is no extra module given for those who do have weights and that does suck.
#3) Boingvert
*NOTE THIS PROGRAM IS RECEIVING MINIMAL SUPPORT FROM THE CREATOR AS OF TODAY*
Now it’s kind of crazy because I actually have Boingvert in my [Jump Training Programs to Avoid] article, and now I am adding it here into my top 3 vertical jump training programs to use. Boingvert may be flawed but it actually isn’t that bad. The reason why Boingvert was even on that list is because there are aspects around Boingvert that make it bad and avoidable. But, Boingvert does have its special qualities that make the program good to use. Now I would obviously still go with either The Jump Manual or Vert Shock, but if you are looking for a #3, Boingvert fits the list.
What makes Boingvert so bad is how it is a 27-WEEK PLAN! That is crazy, comparing it to programs like Vert Shock or The Jump Manual, it is almost triple the amount longer than Vert Shock and double the amount longer than The Jump Manual. I tried and did research on Boingvert and I was both impressed and disappointed.
Now some of you may be wondering, wait I’ve seen this before somewhere…
If you are wondering that well, you shouldn’t be surprised. Out of all the vertical jump programs out there, Boingvert was actually one of the most well advertised on social media. Boingvert was actually very popular and it is admired by many jumpers around the world. You may have seen these Boingvert ads all around YouTube while watching videos.
Although Boingvert has all of the hype and promotion, it is actually hard to find information about the program itself. It just has the hype and Boingvert is ultimately carried by its promotion which is very well done. The reason why this product is being bought all around the world is because of the promotion. It is just very hard to find information about the product if I’m going to be completely honest. If you want to know more, you would probably have to read articles or reviews about it to buy the product itself to know more, they really don’t give you good information.
Before I actually tried Boingvert I actually wrote an article about it based on research and what others had told me. After trying it, although they were right for the most part, I still feel like I had to include it in here because it does deserve a spot here as the #3 best vertical jump program, even after all of its flaws.
Boingvert is probably one of the LONGEST vertical jump training programs out there with its 27-week plan. It’s simply just WAY TOO LONG and TOO INTENSE. You have to sacrifice so much just for Boingvert, and most people just don’t have that sort of time. Especially for those who are in-season and play basketball, this program just won’t work for them.
If you are willing to actually put in everything, and work through the 27-week plan with full effort, then this program may just be for you, but if you aren’t willing to put in that time and effort, look to instead use The Jump Manual or Vert Shock.
Final Thoughts:
Ultimately, the mission is to JUMP HIGHER!
These are my top recommendations for anyone looking to seriously increase their vertical and gain serious inches to jump higher. I have tested all these programs. At the end of the day, don’t expect to see any results overnight and it’s important to also be realistic, because, just like all things in life, it takes time, effort, and dedication to reach your goals and truly improve. This is truly important to keep in mind.
I tried these programs back years ago, but looking through it years later in 2024, my thoughts on Vert Shock being the clear best vertical jump program only remains stronger as it is currently the only vertical jump program truly keeping FULL SUPPORT from the creator. The Jump Manual and BoingVERT are both getting very minimal to no support at all from the creators. Vert Shock is the strongest for a reason and my decision on that still hasn’t changed after all these years.
Please make sure to check out my Vert Shock full review.
